One of the best things about doing a vacation rental is checking out the fun little details in and around the house. That might include yard decorations, unusual architecture, or colorful plants and flowers. I’ve gotten into the habit of doing this in every place we stay, and I love it for a few reasons. It helps me keep my photographer’s eye honed; it gives me something to do when the weather keeps me from going hiking; and it reinforces my happy memories of each trip. On this particular coastal trip, it also gave me a chance to get more familiar with my 50mm lens. I wound up with so many photos that I decided to space them out over a few days rather than try to squeeze them all into one post!
