North coast wildflowers

In the middle of the night I had what seemed at the time a brilliant inspiration for Throwback Thursday, although I remember thinking it would take a fair bit of work to put together. Alas, when I woke up this morning I had absolutely no clue what that fantastic idea may have been (and maybe it’s just as well)! So instead today I offer up some of the gorgeous wildflowers I found during our most recent trip to Mendocino late last month.

When we visited the Kruse Rhododendron Reserve in May 2021, we managed to miss out on the big bloom; most of the flowers were high up in the trees and I never managed to get a decent photo. So I was happy to find a flowering tree growing right next to our rental cabin on this trip.
