The Adventure Continues… Vietnamese New Year

One of the best things about Huell Howser was his enthusiasm for learning about the various cultures that make up California’s population. Three weeks ago we looked at the Serbian New Year celebrations, and in this episode of Visiting, Huell explores how the Vietnamese community in Orange County celebrates the Lunar New Year, which this year is occurring this weekend, January 22-23. Of course, Huell loved anything to do with good food, so I’m sure he especially enjoyed this experience! I learned quite a lot just in the first couple of minutes of the episode. I wasn’t able to confirm when this episode originally aired although at the very end of the episode Huell mentions that the new year will be a Year of the Monkey. This year, 2023, is a Year of the Cat in the Vietnamese calendar — but also the Rabbit, in other parts of Asia.

Join Huell for a visit to Little Saigon on Tet, or Vietnamese New Year. Learn about traditional New Year’s food at an open air market and a tasty bakery.
