Ken W., November 1984

Starting today, I’ll be looking at photos of Kenneth W.’s time as a USAF airman as depicted in the Korea albums. Though I can only imagine the stories behind the images, it did seem like he worked hard, enjoyed his job, and still found time to relax and hang out with coworkers. In going through these photos I was suddenly reminded of the handful of black-and-white prints from my Dad’s time in Japan, some 30 years earlier. I originally shared them in 2018; one example can be found here). He was an Air Force mechanic who worked on airplanes, so I suspect he may have identified with the guys in these images much better than I can!

If this wasn’t in the 1980s, I’d think he was staring at his phone!
