I had a different post planned for today but after reading that Highway 128 is currently closed due to another slide I thought I would share these images, shot on March 24. A week ago I was driving home from Clear Lake and decided to take the scenic route — through Napa County and via Lake Berryessa and Winters. I’ve traveled this route a few times before and always wished I could spend more time admiring Putah Creek, which runs just below the south side of the two-lane highway. It’s not really surprising, given how high the creek is at the moment and how saturated the ground must be, that part of the roadway has been undercut and will need repairs before it’s safe again for travel.
