Monticello Dam
I’ve driven past Berryessa’s Monticello Dam quite a few times on the way to other destinations and often wished I could take the time to stop. Finally, driving home from Clear Lake and on my own, I pulled over and took a look around. It was a beautiful but breezy Friday afternoon. While I still intend to go back some day and spend more than 15 minutes exploring this area, I’m pleased I finally got a look at the Glory Hole for myself, rather than just seeing photos and videos. The lake level was high after all the storms of the previous three months. With the water roughly 10 feet from spilling over the top of the Glory Hole, the region’s water supply is in a very good place for the coming year.
