Highway 32 and Deer Creek from Elam Campground, Lassen National Forest

It was around this time last summer that I took a day trip with the Big Guy up to Lake Almanor, with a brief stop in the tiny town of Chester. I shot a few photos, but I was honestly so traumatized at seeing the devastation from the 2021 Dixie Fire that I never shared many of my images. Lately every summer/fall brings dread of the latest wildfire news; but if given the chance and enough time, the forests do recover, at least to some extent. I may be revisiting the area in a few weeks, so I wanted to take another look back at some of the sights from that day.
