I never have to walk very far from the house where I’m staying to find some sort of wildlife, and this morning was no exception. We are about a 50-minute drive from Susanville, and it may seem that there’s not a lot to do out here on the west shore of Eagle Lake. The community has only one small store; the lake level is so low I never managed to reach the water; and the wifi stops working every night and doesn’t return until midmorning the next day. And yet I can honestly say I have never been bored here for one minute of our five-day stay.
