Anticipating August

Pomo dancer mural, Sacramento

The California Street cable cars as they pass through part of Chinatown on their way down to Market Street and up to Nob Hill. The upturned roof of a Chinese pagoda is the clock tower of old St. Mary’s Church build [sic] in the 1850s

Connecting with the lobby and running through to the rear of the building is a commodious banquet and dance room where guests may entertain large groups of friends. Two fast-moving elevators running from the garage in the basement to the top floors afford service to the guests. They are of the automatic type and were furnished and installed by the Pacific Elevator and Equipment Company. Each of the 102 guest rooms have exterior exposures and each contains bath and shower — 1929 news clipping
