The Adventure Continues…California Communities: Perris
When Huell attended the grand reopening of the railroad depot in Perris on January 31, 2009, it was not his first visit to this community in Riverside County; you may recall his tour of the railway museum from 2003. I always love to see California towns embrace their history as they move forward into the future, and Perris seems to be a great example of this desire to make the most of its colorful past. The town was named in 1886 for Fred T. Perris, chief engineer for the California Southern Railroad, which is why the city was celebrating Fred T. Perris Day during Huell’s visit.
Huell attends the town’s celebration of the reopening of their historic Victorian train depot and then tours the historic downtown.
