Lake houses
I do have a certain weakness for before-and-after photos, but most of the time when I’m hiking around I don’t purposely try to create them. I’ll admit though that when I returned to Sweetwater Creek with the Big Guy in late October I was curious to see how a couple of driftwood shelters I remembered from four years earlier had fared. I found that while two of the three remain standing, changes have clearly occurred. My favorite of the three seems to have settled and spread and has lost its side entrance. I didn’t venture inside; it felt to me a bit less like a welcoming shelter and more like an impending pile of sticks. Still, once winter has passed this shelter may receive yet another makeover and again become a shady rest spot along the shore.
