Around about the village
Sometimes it surprises me when I go back and look through my photos to see what I’ve skipped over and forgotten or neglected to share. And occasionally, the surprise is that the photos that should be there, just are not. That happened to me this week when I made the unhappy discovery that more than two months’ worth of photos from early 2023 that I believed were safely backed up seem to have vanished. I’m still trying to come to terms with this loss — and part of me still believes they’ll somehow turn up in the future — but the good news is that I take so many photos with various cameras that I still have images to help me recall the wonderful places I’ve visited. And I guess moments like this push me to do better at organizing.
The village of Mendocino is extremely popular with tourists, and it can get pretty crowded during the peak months. During our visit in late February and early March 2023, we found a bit more breathing room thanks to the rainstorms. I was able to stroll around and shoot photos without running into too many other people, enjoying a bit of fresh air as well as the peace and quiet of the off season.
