The Adventure Continues… Santa Barbara Island

I have to admit I know next to nothing about California’s Channel Islands, but Huell visited a number of the islands, and this episode of California’s Gold, originally aired August 1994, features the smallest of the group. Although it may look like just a big rock, Santa Barbara Island has historically offered food and shelter not only to plants and wildlife but also the local indigenous people. It’s good to know the island is now protected and preserved for future generations.

Huell travels to Santa Barbara Island, one of the eight Channel Islands, to learn about the history and nature of this beautiful place from its only human resident — a ranger. Huell actually walks the perimeter of this island to get a feel for this seldom seen part of the Golden State.
