Yukon Cornelius, Hermey the Elf, Charley-in-the-box, the Abominable Snowman, and Rudolph

We’ve spent the past two Christmas holidays with the Big Guy’s family in Texas. And while our visit in December 2023 was pretty much the epitome of a bad time, this year was much better — so I was surprised to find that I shot roughly the same number of photos both years. Still, the majority of pictures in 2023 were shot inside a hospital, and happily this year’s photos were much more scenic and outdoors! Our stay in Roanoke was good but I felt very busy the whole time, so I only found time to get outside and walk a couple of times. I had been hoping to visit Grapevine Lake but there just wasn’t enough time (or energy) to squeeze that in. I’m pleased that the area where we stayed offers safe places to walk and interesting sights to see; however, Jim Croce really got it right when he sang that “there never seems to be enough time to do the things you want to do once you find them.”
