Delta birding

White pelicans

A couple of days ago, the Big Guy finally managed to convince me to go along with him on a Delta fishing trip, promising me the chance to see all kinds of birds. I’m always reluctant to commit to an entire day — from early morning until dusk — of sitting on a bass boat under a hot sun (with no shade) while he obsessively hunts for “just one more” big fish. Still, it’s not without its fun moments, and I really did need to get out of the house for awhile. He wasn’t wrong; I did see a lot of birds — and although I wasn’t able to photograph everything I spotted, like the gliding redtail hawks or the elusive Yellow-headed blackbird, I still came away with enough images to feel satisfied.
