Memories — April 28

Google Photos always has a way of bringing back good memories that otherwise might slip through the cracks of my life, like these images from April 28 in 2019 and 2021. In 2019 I was one of the volunteers helping out at our local bald eagle nest site. I learned so much and met some very cool people. The volunteers’ job was to help visitors understand how precious and amazing it is to have a mating pair of eagles raising their young at Lake Natoma (they’ve nested here every year since 2017). The volunteer program has made a lot of progress since 2019. We were recently saddened to learn that this year’s eaglets have not survived; but this has been something of a crazy year for the two adult eagles — they lost their original nest tree in January and had to find a new spot to rebuild. We all hope that next year the eagles will return and have a more successful season.

In April 2021, I was on the Sonoma Coast with the Big Guy, staying in a small house near Timber Cove. On the 28th we visited Gualala Point Regional Park; and of course he found time to do some fishing. He brought home one of his favorite saltwater fish, a Cabezon (Scorpaenichthys marmoratus), and we had a fine dinner without going out to eat!
