My entry for Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge this week.
I grew up less than 8 miles from the shores of Lake Natoma — and yet I had no idea that Lake Natoma even existed until I was an adult! The Big Guy, on the other hand, grew up with the lake almost literally in his front yard and spent much of his time playing and fishing there. The longer I […]
I haven’t been posting much the past week; first I was out of town for Christmas, and when I arrived home I promptly came down with a head cold. Thankfully it wasn’t the flu, but I haven’t felt like doing much of anything, so today’s irresistible episode of California’s Gold is like a bit of comfort food for anyone else […]
This gentleman was very nice and allowed me to photograph him with his two beautiful service dogs Saturday morning on Sutter Street. It wasn’t until I got home and looked at the photo that I realized he’s a U.S. Navy veteran. I’ll admit I know very little about Kern County and have only passed through on my way to and from Los Angeles — but I guess I should have known […]
The best thing about our pets is how happy they make us feel, and how good we feel when we know they’re happy. This week I’ve got a very small selection of animal images — because there have been so many wonderful animals in our lives, and some of them live on only in memory, not in photographs.

I mentioned last Monday that I was having a hard time grouping my newly found images into themes. This next bunch focuses on my family and some of the changes we’ve gone through. I really like the photo above because we included our dogs (and my dog, Phoebe, is sitting on my foot). Next week I’ll have a few […]
