Welcome sight in high weeds

Yes, I knew it had rained the night before; but I gambled that the mud wouldn’t be too thick and chose to wear my sneakers instead of my hiking boots on my morning hike. And I managed to keep my feet reasonably dry — until I arrived at this dew-soaked portion of the trail. The shortest weeds reached up to […]

WPC: Surprise!

The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge for the week of April 12, 2017. Much of photography is about discovery, and with discovery may come a surprise. I was hiking along a deserted dirt road at 6:30 in the morning and eyeing the blackberry bushes on my right, hoping to spot a sweet snack or two.  I just happened to raise my glance […]

Let it pour

As I write this, we’re getting buckets full of April showers, just because Mother Nature decided that this year is meant to make up for all the past years of drought. I’m not actually complaining! — but I have to laugh because I drove to the supermarket in slightly drizzly weather to pick up a few things, and when I came back outside the water works had been turned on full blast. Of course, I was parked at the far edge of the lot. So by the time I reached my car, my trousers were soaked, my shoes were soaked, and my hat was soaked. My morning also got off to a bit of a crazy start today. I’ve been listening to Stephen King’s book Insomnia via the Overdrive app on my phone, and I knew my loan was about to expire; in fact, when I opened it up this morning, I had a mere 50 minutes left! I was very close to […]

From under the weather

The theme this week for Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge is View from the Back, Bottom, or Underneath. You can take photos of anything as long as we are seeing the back, underneath or bottom.  I have always found flower backs to be fascinating.  The back of a statue instead of the typical front or side views.  The tail lights of […]

WPC: Atop

The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge for the week of March 15, 2017. This week, head to the top to take your best shot. It took me off the clearly marked path, tramping through damp green weeds at times nearly up to my knees, and several backtracks, but I found the spot I was searching for. I’d been there only once […]
