“Virile to risk and find…”
Last January I shared with you an episode of California’s Golden Parks in which Huell visited Donner Memorial State Park; at the time I wanted very badly to include the photos I’d taken of the memorial statue, but I couldn’t locate them. Well, better late than never, right?
These photos were shot in July 2006; but it was the end of October 1846 when 59 members of the Donner group arrived at what is now Donner Lake, where they would take shelter after failing to reach the summit. They were 150 miles from Sutter’s Fort.
