Strange skies

4 PM at Ocean Cove near Jenner

Wildfires up and down the West Coast of the US have turned our skies grey and made the sun appear as a bright red ball in the heavens; but it wasn’t until last Tuesday that we began to see the atmosphere transforming to a post-apocalyptic orange. Even after the effect seemed to ease, photos shot with my Canon and Fujifilm cameras under my normal settings had a strange tint (mobile phone cameras seem to automatically counteract the odd conditions). I do think that we escaped the worst of the smoke during our short stay in northern Sonoma County. I’m not sure what to expect in the coming days, as the battle against the wildfires continues.
