Road tripping

Highway 37, Sonoma County

A few days ago I was watching television and happened to see a familiar episode of California’s Gold — one that I featured here on my blog last May about the historic bells of the El Camino Real. You may recall that the last 30 minutes of that one-hour episode included a visit to the foundry where new bells were being cast to replace the bells originally placed along the historic trail between 1906 and 1945. As a history lover, I’ll admit I felt a bit of a thrill when I spotted a couple of the bells out there on Highway 37, especially now that I know more about their history! And seeing that episode again also reminded me of these photos I shot while driving between Muir Woods and Vallejo on that trip last October.
