As I strolled along Lakeshore Boulevard in Nice, looking out over Clear Lake, I couldn’t help but notice that someone seemed to have forgotten to bring in their seating arrangement from the launch ramp area. Nobody but me seemed the least bit interested in this chair; it seemed the most natural thing in the world for it to be standing out there in the water.

And it was only later that I realized someone had taken the time to place a heavy rock on the seat, perhaps to ensure this wicker wing chair didn’t float away. I could only imagine that this lonely piece of furniture must mark some person’s favorite fishing spot — or perhaps I should say, their perch perch.
