The Adventure Continues… Stan Betz
If you clicked through to the link on last Wednesday’s post featuring small Hollywood cars, you may have noticed that the written description included a paragraph that didn’t match up with the segment. I wasn’t quite sure what that was all about, but I was intrigued by the content — so I tracked down this episode of Huell’s show, Visiting, from around 2003. I’d never heard of custom car guru Stan Betz before, but clearly he was something of a legend in his field going all the way back to the 1950s. By the time this native of Anaheim passed away in September 2017 he had amassed a very impressive collection of small movie cars and other intricately constructed pieces of movie art. If you thought last week’s tiny cars were amazing, you haven’t seen anything yet!
Have you ever wondered what happens to the countless cars that have been driven over cliffs, crushed, crashed and blown up in thousands of movies? Most of those cars were miniature cars that were built for the movies and believe it or not, there is a man who has a huge collection of these “movie” cars.
