A short exploration
We had parked alongside Highway 1 not too far south of Fort Bragg in Mendocino County; while I wandered the windy bluff top, the Big Guy was getting down to the serious business of casting out into the surf, looking for fish. It was just across the road from where he was fishing that I eventually discovered part of the Jug Handle State Natural Reserve — purely by accident. By the time I spotted it, I had only a few minutes to explore before we had agreed to meet up by the car to head back to Point Arena, so I basically ran down the trail, shot a few pictures, and ran back! I did notice two or three people carrying large buckets who seemed to be collecting mushrooms. I’m really looking forward to returning to spend a few hours hiking the trails here and seeing what else I can find in this beautiful area.
