More from the Blue Mesa

Some portions of Arizona’s Petrified Forest National Park are definitely reminiscent of the terrain in the Grand Canyon, almost 200 miles to the northwest. Like my post earlier this month, these images show the Blue Mesa, which lies south of Interstate 40 within the Painted Desert. I shot all these photos in the same area, roughly halfway along the 28-mile road that runs between I-40 and Highway 180. The entire park is 52,000 acres, and the landscape varies widely — all beautiful!
