Elephant Seal Overlook

In late August I made a quick overnight trip to Point Reyes; and while I didn’t have enough time to seriously explore everything I hoped to see I did get a look at the headlands and spend awhile at the Chimney Rock Trailhead. Even though it wasn’t the prime season for elephant seal watching — that happens between December and March — I found a small group lounging around on the beach, There seemed to be some playing/sparring going on, but most of the larger seals only wanted to sleep! I didn’t spot any obviously large-nosed bulls. Still, if you look closely, you might notice at least one with a larger-than-average snout.
