Blown glass

On my visit to San Francisco’s deYoung Museum last August I revisited some of the blown glass pieces I had seen previously, in 2019, and spent some time getting a better look. I wasn’t entirely satisfied with some of the pictures I shot with my phone on my earlier visit; this time I used my Canon SL2, and I think the colors and shapes really come alive!

I much prefer this image of Lino Tagliapietra’s Niomea (2009) to the one I shot with my phone three years ago, shared in my post Circles, Curves, and Arches. But as much as I like the piece above, the vivid colors of Mandara (2005) by the same artist really blow me away.
