Memory Monday: High Sierra
I’m probably sounding like a broken record at this point, but again, I can’t be sure where these photos were shot. I do feel comfortable in guessing that it was somewhere in California’s Sierra Nevada, and some of these locations look somewhat familiar to me. One image actually includes a highway marker identifying Alpine County; that area is traversed by highways 88, 89, and 4, and includes Carson Pass, Markleeville, and Kirkwood Resort. I’m fairly sure that at least one or two of this week’s photos show the area around Silver Lake and the Carson Spur.
I feel like I should insert a reminder that with my current Memory Monday series (starting back in October 2022), rather than my own images I’ve been sharing prints from a stack of five photo albums I found at the Roseville flea market. The original owner of the albums, shown above, was Kenneth W., a US Air Force veteran who spent some time in South Korea during the late 1970s or early 1980s. He was the photographer of most of these images, and I’m very grateful to be able to share them here.
