The morning cold was nippy, and I needed to keep moving to warm up as I set off on my morning hike. But when this lovely bud — the color of a ripe, juicy peach — caught my eye, I just had to stop to admire it.

I noticed these wonderful flowers in San Francisco’s Botanical Garden, in the area known as the Exhibition Garden. They are a rare variety of abutilon, sometimes called Flowering Maple.
