Sometimes even with a small point-and-shoot camera (like my Fujifilm Finepix AX655) you can get very lucky with the wildlife around Lake Natoma. I shot this rufous-crowned sparrow in late May 2016 — he was so intent on singing that he didn’t even mind me camera-stalking him!
I spotted this handsome little beauty in late May 2016 — the first time I had ever seen a Western bluebird.
This isn’t my neighborhood, but I always enjoy spotting these small community libraries. And I love that some thoughtful person included dog treats!
All these California storms are proving a bit too much even for heavy equipment to handle. I found this guy turned over on his side just down the street from my house! Luckily I was able to get him back upright; it’s only a matter of time before the next wave of the storm blows through.
