Memory Monday, Week 131
During Christmas and summertime school breaks back in the early 1980s, I got pretty used to spending roughly eight hours on the road, driving to Southern California in my parents’ VW camper to visit my eldest sister’s family. Once there, we usually stayed for about a week and found time to visit various local attractions — Disneyland, the San Diego Zoo, Point Loma, and even the Orange Empire Railway Museum (now called the Southern California Railway Museum) in Perris, California.
Both my mom and I shot lots of pictures on the day we visited the San Diego Zoo, in July 1981; I previously shared my photos back in September 2018. I especially enjoyed riding in an orange “bucket” on the aerial tram.
Next week, I’ll have some images from our April 1980 visit to the Star of India, docked in San Diego Harbor.
