Acorn Woodpeckers are so abundant in my area that sometimes I tend to take them for granted. But they truly are one of my favorite little birds, with a bright red cap and white-spotted wings, as well as their strategy of storing away acorns in trees and constantly rearranging them.
This wasn’t exactly the trail I was looking for out at Peninsula Campground on Folsom Lake, but I’ll admit I enjoyed the quiet morning walk beneath the trees.
