I was going through some old pictures when I found these images of Grizzly Island Wildlife Area, located in the Suisun Marsh in Solano County.

California’s wetlands are always in danger of disappearing altogether, but this area has been protected since 1950 and provides a haven for all sorts of plants and wildlife, including peregrine falcons, bald eagles, and the endangered Suisun shrew.  Tule elk can also be found here.

This environmentally vital and scenic oasis was a wonderful place to get away for the day, to soak in nature’s quiet beauty and think about where I fit into the big picture.
